It is with great pleasure, that the Newfoundland All Breed Kennel Club welcomes Maddie Spry aboard our instructor team for the upcoming 2018 year!
Like many young children, Maddie fell in love with dogs when she was only a young girl. Maddie shared with us, that her mother use to show dogs, and Maddie was always enticed by the award ribbons. She stated that she would spend hours studying the ribbon colors, trying to determine and memorize what each color represented. It didn't take long, before Maddie's dream of entering the dog show ring became a reality.
Maddie asked her parents if she could get a dog. She fell in love with the English Bulldog breed and the rest is history. Maddie got her first English Bulldog: Jorgia approximately six years ago, but she didn't show her as she did not have registered papers. A few years passed and Maddie's interest in the sport continued to grow. So her family made the decision to get a second English Bulldog - and lone behold the legend of Ch. Libby's Manhattan Charm was born. Better known as Mannie or 'Bubba' by his friends and families, Maddie shared with us that when she met Mannie, it was love at first sight. Mannie instantly took to her and she knew she had found a best friend for life.

Maddie realized that in order to have a successful dog show career, she needed to not only study her breed, but she needed to learn as much as she possibly could about ALL breeds. It was at this time, that her and Mannie enrolled in Conformation Handling Classes. Maddie was determined to perfect her skills and build confidence. Maddie has completed Junior Conformation Handling on four different occasions, completed Basic Conformation Handling Classes and even progressed to instructing the Junior Conformation Handling class back in Fall 2017. Maddie has an exceptional mannerism with her students and there is no question that her students adore her!
To back her knowledge, Maddie and Mannie have had quite the exciting journey in a short time frame. On her winning wall at home, sits the following:
Most impressively is that Mannie claimed his championship title under Maddie just slightly past the age of a year old.
Despite her young age, she has shown various breeds of dogs for others - including a standard wire haired dachshund, a miniature smooth haired dachshund and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Her knowledge base on all dog groups is diverse and she is self-taught in understanding each breed and is always eager to learn more.
Maddie has a life-long dream to continue showing dogs simply for the pure enjoyment and has set herself the prestigious goal of working towards becoming a judge one day. We have no doubt that Maddie will reach this goal!
